3 Common Misconstrued Topics in Addiction and Substance Abuse

Posted By BrianTyrie

Addiction to substance, or substance abuse is a commonly discussed topic in the modern world we live in. Unfortunately it is also a common cause of injuries and/or death as well. With the pressure from media, constant endorsement of alcohol and the influence from celebrity lifestyles it makes it nearly impossible to shelter ourselves from alcohol and substance. This article and vlog is designed to expose the common misconstrued topics that confuse people about their status in the “turn up” lifestyle that music and corporate America promotes.

The first step to any self improvement is WANTING TO BE BETTER. If you are making moves for your self, do it for YOU! Relationships come and go, whether it be friends or family. Let’s face it, society and technology has made it possible to keep in contact without physically existing in a certain space. We can text message our friends and family maintaining a relationship without always showing up to Sunday dinner for example.

Addiction and substance abuse make it difficult for us to involve ourselves with the sober population. If no one knows you are actively using, how can they help?

Let’s take a look at 3 Common Misconstrued Topics in Addiction and Substance Abuse.

1. Only Partying on the Weekend but, Are You Scheduling Your Addiction?

This only applies to the population of party-goers that CONSISTENTLY “turn up” or experiment with their friends on the weekends. If you have a monthly night out you are not exactly in a danger zone, but you may be. Only you know for sure the truth behind your social life.

It is totally OK to have a social life. It is totally OK to drink responsibly. It is also socially acceptable to become a “regular” in a bar. When you start to appear more and more at the bar, even if it is different bars or different clubs you are putting yourself into a position that may possibly become habit forming. If you need to let loose after the hustle and bustle of the Monday to Friday work week, alcohol and substance DO NOT have to be your answer.

There are plenty of people, including myself, that will join the crowd without a drink in their hand. Yes, it took a long time but even after my sobriety I appear in nightclubs from time to time without drinking. For me personally it is a business event and I do not personally find a one night good time worth resetting the clock I set in my sobriety.

Pick and chose your battles because every single day you face a battle, addiction is the WAR! When you become dependent on this “freedom” of the night life you are closer and closer to becoming addicted. You are also putting yourself in the “Snowball Effects” domain.

The snowball effect is basically the fact that our bodies automatically develop addiction when our tolerance heightens. The headaches from lack of something as mild as caffeine is a symptom of chemical addiction. BE AWARE OF THIS!!!

2. Difference Between Addiction and Dependency

Dependency is not just involving substance abuse. Some people are dependent on acceptance which can be confused by the participant in the “turn up” or “night life” festivities. Dependency can also be confused as a means to mask certain anxieties that come along with meeting a new friend or stage fright.

We have all heard that if we have a drink or two we may be able to loosen up enough to successfully speak to our crush or to become more creative in our industry. This may be true in some cases but is it the most healthy alternative for your first impression?

Your health and awareness are obviously at stake but so is your appearance. Do you want to communicate that you are ONLY able to perform under the influence of either drugs or alcohol? What does that say to the crowd or the significant other that you are trying to reach?

Dependency is a mental issue that can become an addiction. Most addictions stem off of a mental issue that result in dependency first AND THEN addiction. We are not born an addict but it is possible to be born addicted or you might be born with a mental disorder leaving you dependent on approval. You may not… you may have developed this dependency to approval through the years.

EVERY CASE IS DIFFERENT so make sure you analyze some of these ideas before you consider yourself an addict. These are just some pointers and as I have previously mentioned I am not a professional in the Addiction and Substance Abuse industry. I am simply a recovered addict that is trying to spread a perspective that may help some active users gain control.

3. Healthcare Professionals Aren’t Addicts, So Why Should I Listen?

Not every professional is out their to understand you. They are actually NOT ALLOWED to reach a personal level BY LAW! The doctors and therapists that are licensed in this field most likely have NEVER touched a drug or walked the path of an addict. This does not mean they are unaware of the struggles. These professionals hold on to a ton of information that can be used for your future battles. Take into consideration what these professionals say to you. Read the pamphlets, listen to what they say and try to apply it on a scenario basis. If you are not allowing these people in and you are shutting them down you may be missing out on a lot of the information that is vital in your recovery and prevention.

Many mentors on the other hand, DO have the past history and experience of the active user. Sometimes they DO NOT however, hold the degree. This is a good time to examine the “Take into Consideration” suggestion that this article promotes. Please take both perspectives and accept both worlds to piece together your own conclusion or your own guidelines in your recovery or substance abuse prevention. These people OBVIOUSLY do not know your life story and neither do I. Take it upon yourself to apply what works, what sounds like it may help in order to make the pieces fit.

If this article helps you or may have an impact on someone you know please share with them. Please make sure you want to help yourself because as a fellow addict I sincerely want to help those that have the similar background and history I have faced. It all comes with the territory and most of us have either Snowballed out of control and ended up addicts from a mental dependency and social acceptance.

Services and Products, Television And Radio… Are You Prepared To Be Used?

Posted By BrianTyrie

That sounds horrible but here is some of the truth behind this statement…
You may be well prepared to start “taking your music seriously” but are you prepared for the music business? Welcome to BrianTyrie.com, What’s the Business?
If you follow on social media you may all ready know that I am a freelance writer, music producer and internet radio co-owner. What most people do not know is that I have worked in sales for many years.
Also writing marketing copy for the past 5 years.
In this time I have also learned the strategies behind some of America’s top cable providers in the United States and also working with the smaller contracting companies that are usually used to cover a customer service follow up appointment. The music industry is what I compare most of these topics because my audience understands this material can possibly solve an occurring issue many of us face.

No matter what industry we all have some similarities so please try to compare my examples I speak about in my industry and try to apply to a similar scenario in your industry.
The examination of these “worlds” have given me knowledge and experience to CREATE the what you see in front of you today. Our blogs are written for the sole purpose of educating and preparing the reader for what our teams have encountered. This is not a marketing “get rich quick” course and is far from the sugar coated material for the DIY business mogul.
The world is constantly evolving so we will not be talking about the tech part of these industries but the one thing that can stay with you forever, and that is your mindset.

Also known as your “motivational thinking”, an “inspiring mentality” or simply “positive framing”.
The mainstream music artists we see today and have grown to love could not have possibly amazed the crowds at Madison Square Garden or spectacular Halftime Shows at the Super Bowl by believing the negative energy that every single person on our planet faces. There is no escaping it whether in elementary school, middle school, high school and now the workplace and ESPECIALLY in our corporate world.

Maybe it is natural for someone to be aggressive when defending what they love.
Survival is reflex, what we find closest to us is usually valuable and needed in our every day goals. Our phone is always with us because it helps us so we never miss out on a call or text, also serving as a way to keep track of time, setting calendar dates and alarms etc. This isn’t about any of that, this article is about our mind, and what we have to prepare it for depending on our chosen journey.
It’s impossible for everyone to like each other. The question of BUSINESS is actually, do you find me useful? If the answer is yes they can find you useful, are you prepared to be used? Services and products, television and radio. Are you prepared to be played when THEY feel like? In the 2000 film ‘Hendrix’ Wood Harris plays Jimi Hendrix who was once quoted saying “…I am not a jukebox…”when a fan shouted out a request mid set.
This has always seemed relevant in life because if you look at it from the crowd perspective they just want to have fun and hear what they want to hear. Also examining this from the artist point of view, these songs have meaning beyond description which is why most music is created.
One song may represent a memory in one persons mind, while bringing a sad memory to the person standing to the right of them. The mindset and emotion has to find a balance to completely keep all parties satisfied.
If you WANT to help people in general and you also understand that your customers will almost ALWAYS be upset from the previous company or provider that they were subscribed to. Then you are most likely ready to take BUSINESS more seriously now!

3 Ways to Keep Yourself From This ‘Plateau’ We Hear About

Posted By BrianTyrie

In whatever industry or journey that is YOUR passion, take into consideration momentum can and probably will plateau. When we ‘plateau’ it is when we reach our goal, conquer it… and now what?

There are several different analytic charts you need to get familiar with if you are serious about running a business. Keeping up with what is popular and what is getting engagement.

That is going to be the area you SHINE as publicly as possible.

We’re not talking drama king or queen, we’re talking serious publicity.

Podcasts, radio shows, ads and websites that SCREAM your vision. That is all that is separating you from where you are and where you want to be. That can be attained through a proper balance of playing a little bit of catch up. Make some content and catch up your audience. Make sure they are well informed.

Make some sales, reinvest your money into getting the word out!

You will want to watch your social media marketing engagement, sales, marketing management and audience. This is only some the basics to look out for when it comes to monitoring analytic results. -credit Wikipedia links

Pictured above, is another industry that is far from music that clearly depicts what a ‘plateau’ would look like.

The answer to ‘what’s next?’ is the factor that determines whether you’re going to skyrocket your movements ‘momentum’. Are you trending right now or is this just a high five, good job, thanks for showing up type move. Are you done after this or does it lead to something else?

Now remember that once again we have to take into consideration that you start dominating what you are good at. Shine that positive vibe in the direction of all competitors or a mentor and be proud of yourself. Confidence comes from all different things you do in your day to day. Work habits are developing from taking trial and error for most companies with practice and routine.

What doesn’t work obviously is replaced.

Here are 3 Ways to Keep Yourself From This ‘Plateau’ We Hear About

  • What are you doing correctly? Pour your heart and soul into what is working and not into the fear of ‘what might not work‘ or my personal favorite ‘what might go wrong’? Get rid of doubt so that it prepares you for the next two steps. This mentality of keeping things moving one step at a time has helped me with my time management and productivity. *Remember ‘busy‘ and ‘productive‘ are two totally different words with two totally different ways to describe your day.

  • Reach out to someone that is probably our of your league, and support them face to face. Shine some of your strengths into the direction of someone doing better than you. Even if they aren’t doing better than you. Maybe it is someone that holds valuable knowledge. Don’t stop at an email either, show up to events especially if it is hosted by whoever it is that could possibly help you grow. Show support, invite friends and participate. If someone feels comfortable with you at an event and it all goes well…

(Keyword: COMFORTABLE… not too pushy, stay humble and calm… they might invite you to work at the next. Maybe not… it’s worth a try to show up.)

  • Leave your habitat! Just because you run an online business doesn’t mean you are only expected to be found online. This is sort of the same as the first two so we will get more specific… try different market places and find out if they lack supply in which you hold demand. Usually the places that aren’t too plentiful with one specific market might need your wild idea.

We all ready have a bunch of videos we can’t wait to share with you.
